Week 8 Reading and Writing

1. Looking back. These assignments are working relatively well for me, and this being my second time taking this class, I find them rather effective. I am pretty happy with how my blog and my website are looking, I like the aesthetic I have gone with much better this semester than the last. I think my chosen topic being animals will go well with my last semester's project being about dogs, even if I was never able to complete it. Naturally, my favorite reading has been about animals. Specifically the Mongoose story I wrote about. My reading notes have helped me, but I find myself forgetting about them when it comes time to write my stories. My research strategies usually end up turning into google deep dives, so maybe I am not doing well with the research strategies and need to find a new one.

2. Image. This is my favorite image that I have used thus far because it is art created by an Indian artist named Madhubani. I really like the "vibe" that this image creates, and I especially love the color scheme. I have chosen o use this style of art on a lot of my posts.

3. Looking forward. Looking forward to this class, I need to start my weekly assignments sooner. I cannot continue to count on having time at the end of a long day to complete my assignments. Somedays I am simply too exhausted to be able to accomplish anything.

Introduction to a Women's Wrestling Coach and Future Teacher

Introduction to a Women's Wrestling Coach and Future Teacher     Hey everyone! My name is Mikayla Chandler. I am a secondary language arts education major going into my senior year here at OU. In addition to being a full-time student, I am also in my first year of coaching wrestling. Although I am a coach on a team of boys and girls, I primarily focus on my attention on the ladies on the team. Although I chose to not wrestling in college, I spent the majority of my life around wrestling and was competitive from ages 10 to 18. I was born and raised here in Norman, so it has always been a dream of mine to obtain a degree from OU. I have one dog but would certainly love to get more. Her name is Verona and she is a Lab/Pitbull mix that showed up one day and never left. One of my major interests is in American Sign Language; I took two years in college and I wish I could afford to take more classes. I love knowing another language, it makes me feel more connected to the worl...

Week Thirteen: Back up and Review

Thoughts:     Some of my favorite videos on the internet are Crash Course videos. I LOVE these videos as a classroom tool. I really enjoy learning more about history through different avenues, and I really feel that Crash Course History has some of the most accessible lessons on the internet. I learned that basically anywhere there is a civilization, there is likely to be a historical flood associated with that civilization. Almost every major civilization we know of has been ravished by a flood, and they always see it as symbolic in some sort of lore. This is my last blog post for the semester and my last post for this class ever. I have taken this class twice now, so I am sort of attached to this class in a weird way since it has been part of my daily routine for the last year, practically. Overall, as my last post, I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have this course as an option for my Gen-ed course work.  Video:    Flood Legends of the Americas...
