Week 8 Class Progress

1. Looking back. Are you happy with your progress so far? What are you most proud of? Do you have a good weekly routine? What are the class assignments that you enjoy the most? Are you using any of the extra credit options? How have things gone in terms of developing your blog and building your website?

     - So far, the end of week points will be 7 points short of an A in the class. Although I am unhappy with my progress, I am still proud of myself for making it this far. My weekly routine is sort of a hot mess, and I am not necessarily happy with the lack of progress I have made. The class assignments I enjoy the most are these types of assignments, where I am forced to reflect. I often move so quickly through the week that I realize I have basically zombie walked through the entire thing. I am going to have to use some extra credit options to make sure that I get back on track, but 7 points will not be too difficult to make up. Things are going well with developing my blog, I think. I am excited to see how things progress because last semester I took the P/NP option for this course, got a C, and just ended things so that I would have more time for hectic life.

2. Looking forward. Are there any changes you want to make for the second half of the semester? Any pitfalls you want to avoid? Something new you want to try in your writing? Anything you want to change about your blog or your project website?

    - There are certainly a lot of things I would like to change for this class. I think my entire course as a whole has really suffered due to how spread thin I am with my time with working two jobs. I am looking forward to being able to see how my website progresses, and how I am able to alter my site to best fit my vision. I want to avoid falling dangerously behind again, I am pretty disappointed with how far behind I have been getting myself. There are no major changes I want to make right now, I am pretty happy with how things look, all things considered.

Topic Brainstorm

Topic Brainstorm: The Women of Indian Epics:      So, part of the reason I am so interested in the women of Indian epics is because of how they are classified, categorized, and how they are talked about. I also saw a lot about this topic in the previous topics, as well as the readings. I think that there is plenty of resources online and through the course, material to learn plenty about the topic, such as  The Women of the Ramayana . I think that there is a lot to learn from the perspective of women throughout Indian literature, folklore, and stories. I have some previous knowledge on this topic from a World Literature class, but my knowledge is limited. The Animals of Indian Epics:      I am very interested in how Indian Epics use animals for storytelling, to convey a metaphor, and as actors to tell "grown-up stories". After reading  Animals of Indian Mythology  I figured that there must be cultural importance to certain animals, as ...

Week Thirteen: Back up and Review

Thoughts:     Some of my favorite videos on the internet are Crash Course videos. I LOVE these videos as a classroom tool. I really enjoy learning more about history through different avenues, and I really feel that Crash Course History has some of the most accessible lessons on the internet. I learned that basically anywhere there is a civilization, there is likely to be a historical flood associated with that civilization. Almost every major civilization we know of has been ravished by a flood, and they always see it as symbolic in some sort of lore. This is my last blog post for the semester and my last post for this class ever. I have taken this class twice now, so I am sort of attached to this class in a weird way since it has been part of my daily routine for the last year, practically. Overall, as my last post, I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have this course as an option for my Gen-ed course work.  Video:    Flood Legends of the Americas...
